HACKETTSTOWN -- The board of education hired Diane Pittenger on Wednesday to take on the role of director of curriculum and instruction for the district.

Pittenger replaces Karl Mundi, who accepted the position of assistant superintendent at Hanover Park Regional School District.

"(Pittenger) has a vast array of skills and experience that fit nicely with the expertise of a director of curriculum and instruction," district Superintendent Bob Gratz said.

Pittenger works as an education program development specialist for the New Jersey Department of Education's Sussex County office, and has experience with state and federal educational objectives.

She also worked as the district coordinator of special projects with the Hopatcong Borough school district.

Pittenger earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Upsala College and a Master of Science in Education from Jersey City State College.

She is slated to begin her new post with the Hackettstown school district by Nov. 1 and will earn a salary of $102,000, Gratz said.

The district is excited to welcome Pittenger to the district, but is also grateful for Mundi's years of excellent work and service, Gratz said.

Mundi joined the district five years ago and served as the director of curriculum and instruction for the last two years.
