POHATCONG TWP. | School administrators will follow the lead of the Greenwich School District and host a mock shooter drill in November.

Details of the program are still being worked out but it will happen on Nov. 7, a planned half day at the school.

"Preparedness is very important to prevent any kind of catastrophe," school board president Dean McBride said.

Chief School Administrator Diane Mandry refused to comment about the drill Thursday night.

In April, just a week after the Virginia Tech tragedy, Greenwich School District, along with Greenwich and Pohatcong police, staged two shooter drills at the Stewartsville School.

Teachers took on the role of students as two police officers dressed in camouflage blasted off blank rifle rounds. Other officers then entered the building and subdued the "assailants."

Pohatcong Police Chief Paul Hager was at the April 27 drill and expressed a desire to bring the program to his school district. He couldn't be reached for comment Thursday night.
