FRANKLIN TWP. | A Blairstown Township man will begin heading up Warren County Technical School. The school board unanimously voted Wednesday night to appoint Robert F. Glowacky as chief school administrator. "We are that behind him. He did such a great job (in the interview process)," school board president Harold Warne said. "His references are incredible." For the past 17 years, Glowacky has worked at Union County Vocational Technical Schools as a teacher, coordinator, supervisor and principal of adult education. Acting Principal and Superintendent Alan Naimoli withdrew his application for the position before interviews began, Warne said. Warne said it was unclear why Naimoli decided not to apply for the job. Naimoli did not return a phone message Thursday night. Glowacky will begin immediately, and Naimoli's last day is June 30, Warne said. Naimoli has been with the school five years and is paid $120,000 a year plus a minimal stipend. The school board will hold a special closed-door meeting Monday to negotiate Glowacky's salary and contract. Then it will be available to the public, Warne said. In February, the board requested a waiver to combine the job of superintendent and principal, a move school officials said would save at least $120,000 a year. The waiver was granted in March. The New Jersey School Board Association was then hired by the school board to conduct the search. Over the past two weeks, the school board has held special meetings to interview candidates. During his time working in Union County, Glowacky established satellite adult high schools in Elizabeth and Plainfield. He helped to increase the graduation rates at these schools and helped graduates explore other career options, including apprenticeships and community college. Reporter Sara K.
